Yes, i think that America move twoards to its ideals beacause America did become a freedom State.Any Person can come to America and live freely here. now that there is no slaves, United States is the “Land of The Free.”

THE civil war didn’t move america towards its ideals. All men weren’t created equally. This is because the black men and the white men were trated differently. The blacks were treated like property while the whites were treated normally.

No, i dont think america lives up to its ideals because slaves were treated badly and they don’t like that. Also the slave’s ideals are having freedom but they dont have freedom. Another reason why america don’t live up to their ideals because not all mens or womens were treated equally. Blacks were treated worse than whites and people were racist againist each other. For example the whites say that the blacks are useless and they can’t work so they are slaves.
Yes, they did because they fought for freedom to prevent slavery and after all the massacure the union aka north won and everyone was treated equally..

The civil was is a very important that helped Americans to be freed! It is a very sad war that killed manys but it is mermories of people willing to fight for freedom!

Yes, I think the Civil War did move America toward its ideals because it freed all slaves and that was their goal. They also killed all the Confederacy even though the Union died too and that was also one of their goals.

Yes I agree with them because America they had freedom. The whites get paid $13 and the blacks got $10. Back then that was a lot of money to them. So they stop slavery. They fought to end slavery and freedom.

I think this because lincoln had to wait for the right thime to be able to free the slaves in the south with the document that he had wrote and waited for the right moment in the war.

Yes that the Civil War moved America ideal because after the war between the Union and the Confederacy, they stopped slavery. That moved America ideal because if they didn’t stopped slavery then the blacks would not be treated the same as the whites.

First of all, Bruce, you were the only one to disagree, that’s amazing, congratulations for thinking against the grain. The Freedmen’s Bureau was great, but it might help you see that all the great things DIDN’T happen for former slaves, and then you gotta wonder why.

No,I don’t think civil war lead America to it’s ideals because even though they were free the whites still had more rights than the blacks.The whites were still being racist and the blacks still couldn’t do whatever they wanted to do or wanted to be.So no I don’t think civil war lead America to it’s ideals.
I agree with what Linda said but not all whites are recist. And besides, they are just starting to learn more about freedom. The Whites that wanted the Blacks to be equal could teach them how EQUAL is suppose to be like.
