    • What is the problem? How does it affect your country?
Children in armed conflict is the issue that I am working on. Children are involved in this conflict by being recruited to the army in fighting positions, or suffering from war like having emotional and physical wounds. This issue affects Rwanda because Rwanda had a lot of children that suffered from the genocide of 1994.
    • What has your country done to combat the problem?
Rwanda had provided refugee camps for children to live in and working on issues to keep children staying out of war and other bloody conflicts because these may cause physical and emotional wound in the child’s mind and their future
    • What are the various “sides” in the debate?
Pros: Support children to be recruited to the army under the age of 18
Cons: Do not support children under the age of 18 to be involved in bloody conflicts.
    • Which aspects of the issue are most important to your country?
Children should not be recruited to the army. This may cause major wounds in a children’s mind. Since Rwanda had genocide in 1994, many children had lost their lives. Children should not be involved in the battlefield or any conflicts.
    • If your country is not involved with the issue, how can it become involved?
Since Rwanda had genocide in 1994, Rwanda must totally participate in this issue to prevent more and more children to suffer from war.
    • How will your country shape the debate at the conference?
Rwanda will make resolutions to help children to stay out from war or to be recruited to the army. This proposal will call: “Rights of Children to War”
    1. Children under the age of 18 would not be recruited to join the army or have the chance to hold guns.
    2. Children do not have the right to vote in being into army or not.
    • What arguments will other countries make?
If there is a war, some children must be recruited for the issue of lack in military like lacking in reinforcements, engineers, combatants, etc. And after the war, children will be promised for education, enough food for the whole family. Basically, children are persuaded by the armies to join military to have the opportunity to use guns, shooting people, and has the experience as a combatant in the battlefield. This is also known as freedom because every children has the right to join the army, even at the age below 18.
    • How do the positions of other countries affect your country’s position?
According to United Nation’s early discussion on this issue, most states stated that children under the age of 18 cannot be recruited to the military no matter in what situation. This may mean that many countries support Rwanda’s point of view.
    • Is there evidence or statistics that might help to back up your country’s position?
Children are not suppose to join the armies during their childhood and early adolescence. They should be having education, their rights may have let them to join the army but their lack in strength and knowledge may have them end up dying in the battlefield. Recruiting children to the battlefield is only a pointless sacrifice to the country.
