Many Mexicans were caught crossing the border in the past and present. They risked their lives coming here because they were desperate. The Mexicans come to the U.S. to make money in order to send money back to their families. There is a Mexican who is pushed to come to the U.S. because his families need money, so he has to come to the U.S. illegally. If he crosses the border successfully, he would be an illegal immigrant. On his way of crossing the border, there are agents who warned him the danger that they would face, but he is determined to come. When he has entered the U.S., he started to work hard. There are many people like him who come to the U.S. and work really hard.
Many illegal immigrants risk their lives crossing the border. About 1954 people died from crossing the U.S.-Mexican border between the years of 1998 to 2004. Too many illegal immigrants come because they want to get job opportunities, to reunite their families, to escape poverty and etc. Over 11 millions of them are in the U.S. right now. They are dared to travel cross the desert to reach the U.S., but many of them died in the desert. Some of them cross the border by riding on the ship, in which they might died for dehydration and other bad conditions. It’s possible that there are going to be more the illegal aliens. Since they are illegal immigrants, they can’t get education, public health systems, and bank account. The coyotes are smugglers to help the Mexicans come to the United States, but sometimes they abandon them. There were 5.3 millions of Mexicans trying to reach the border in 2005. Mexicans aren’t the only immigrants crossing to America illegally, others from many countries also come and that’s dangerous because as immigrants who aren’t documented come to America we don’t know if they are the ones committing crimes or are terrorists. But if you know every immigrant that’s going to America and check their past you can avoid terrorists and know the ones in America aren’t the immigrants.
We, Maxine Waters, Rahm Emanuel, and Patrick Joseph Kennedy, proposed a way to create a guest worker program that has limits on the number of workers coming each year. Their limit time is 1 ½ years and we will notice them three months before the expired date. Then they must return after the time is over. They must fill in a form once they have a place to live in the U.S. and they must fill in their address. We would give them a certificate after we verify everything that the person fills in the form. We would keep a record in a computer so that they must return on the certain date and we would check daily if any of them overstay. After the 1 ½ years they will have to go back to their own country and stay there for at least 8 months. Any immigrants that is married with somebody in the U.S. will have to still go back to their own country and bring the wife/husband too. Another thing is that if the immigrants overstay and we find out they will be banished from U.S. forever and they can’t get citizenship. In addition, when immigrants try to submit for this program we check their pasts and if we don‘t have too much info on their pasts they won’t be able to come into America. Another thing for this program is that we will put tax on the immigrants so their tax is more than normal citizens and we will get part of the taxes to fund for this program.
After 9/11, it’s possible that there are terrorist’s attacks, so we should have records on those who come to the U.S. Create a guest worker program is a solution. This will help the American and Mexican economy to grow, instead of wasting money to make a fence along the border. Because of this program, the number of illegal immigrants coming to the U.S. will decrease.
final draft
Porblem: dporting illegal immigrants
Evidence: There are over 11 milions of illegal immigrants in the u.s. The major problem is that it’s hard to track down illegal immigrants who commit crimes. We all know that illegal immigrants come for better lives but some of them came for other reasons like runaway criminals from other countries, forming a gang, and etc. We don’t know if the illegals are good poeple or not, and we don’t want to put our lives in danger.
Solution: Create a deporting illegal immigrants poloicy
the rules are:
-deport criminals, gang leaders, and illegals who don’t want to pay tax
-if illegals are captured, backgroundcheck first to see if they are gang members or criminals, then if they are then they get deported
-if they are not, we will find a track for them to become legals.
Problem: border security
Evidence: Because of the number of the illegals, this issues can not be ignored anymore. People in my district dislikes the illegal immigrants. Most of them think they illegal immigants should not get equal treatment. Number of illegals increases everyday, and we are scared that the u.s. will get overpopulated. Too many Mexicans take adventage of the border by crossing the border illegal, and there are chances that they will die when they are crossing border.
Soultion: to stop the Mexicans from getting killed and making the u.s. overpopulated, we must make the border security stronger.
Problem: Guest Worker Program
Evidence: Too many illegals came for job opportunities and for better life. Over 11 millions of them are in the u.s. right now and it’s posible the there will be more. Some illegals can get benefits and it’s not fair for the tax payers. After 9/11, we are scared there will be more attacks, so we should records on those who are in the u.s. in order to keep us save.
Solution: A guest worker program is the soultion, however we would like to make some rules.
Rules:
- there is limit on the amount of guest workers coming in each year
- they would work 1 1/2 years, must return after that 1 1/2 years
- if we capture any of those whohave stayed more than 1 1/2 years, they must be deported they can never have a chance to come back again
i handed in the work to you but i would also like to post the final bill here in the blog.
but because that i don’t have the document of it here with me, i am not able to do so. i will post the final bill here in the blog right after when i get my labtop.
please tell me that is ok…
Drafting a Bill
1. Problem: The U.S. is overcrowding because of immigrants. (Quotas)
2. Evidence:
a. Every year, immigrants are coming to the United States in search of jobs or homes and there is not a lot of room or jobs.
b. Some come temporarily to earn enough money to go home, but sometimes they don’t leave or more people come (family, friends, etc.)
c. Our population is becoming excessively huge and it will continue to grow unless we limit the amount of immigrants coming each year.
3. Solution: We should limit the amount of people immigrating to the U.S. each year so our population will stay at a consistent rate.
4. If we do not set quotas, our population will be out of control and we will not have enough space for everyone to have a home and a job. (Not everyone will be able to live a stable life).
Creating a Final Draft
Creating a Final Draft
We, Representatives Sue Myrick of North Carolina, Thelma Drake of Virginia, and Janice Schakowsky of Illinois, believe that there should be quotas for people immigrating to the U.S. because our population is becoming excessively large. We are afraid that because of such a massive population, not everyone will be able to live a stable life with good homes and jobs.
Many people come to the U.S. in search of jobs, a home, and better economic possibilities. Other immigrants also come for a short period of time to earn enough money to live off of back in their homeland. But sometimes when they are expected to leave, they stay to build families. This is a problem because immigrants who stay instead of going home encourage other immigrants (possibly illegal ones) to come too. (Family, Friends etc.)
However, the main problems are that if more immigrants immigrate to the U.S., it could cause pollution, insufficient jobs/homes, and many places would be overcrowded. Coming to the U.S. is everyone’s dream, but if it causes pollution, their dreams will turn into nightmares. Pollution is a very serious problem. Human population growth is the root of our Earth’s environmental problems. This means that if the population of people increases, crowding generates pollution, destroys more habitats, and uses up additional natural resources.
There is a way to solve this problem though; the solution to this problem is that we should set a limit of how many immigrants from each country are allowed into the U.S. This is probably the best and only solution. If the congress does not agree to set quotas, our population will be out of control and we will not have enough space for everyone to have a home, a job, and a happy life.
As much as I agree with Sensenbrenner, Blunt, and Shadegg, I still think that building a wall around the border of Mexico is pointless. It is still a waste of money and time and I don’t think that any of our citizens who work hard for their money will want to have their taxes raised in order to build a wall. But if we don’t build that wall, illegal Mexican immigrants will continue to come to our country and take over our homes and jobs. So what I am trying to say is that for now, I am indecisive on whether or not we should build this wall.
Against Quotas (Limits) – There shouldn’t be quotas limiting people from emigrating from other countries by the country they are from.
- Not fair to the other counties that is allowed less than the another country
- Unequal rights
- Helps our economy in a way
- New immigrations do jobs that Americans do want to do that needs to be done
HR 1342 Diana Degete, Shelia Jackson Lee, John
We think that there shouldn’t be quotas limiting people from emigrating from other countries by the country they are emigrating from. It’s unfair to the other countries that that some countries are allowed more people to immigrate than the other counties. It is unequal rights to the other people in the other counties. When immigrates immigrate to our country they are looking for jobs. There are jobs that Americans don’t want to do like for example picking up trash. People emigrate from other countries to find a better life. Most people who immigrate to this country send money back home so they wouldn’t mind what kind of jobs they get if they get better pay than back in their home country.
Introduction
I, Mazie Hirono, and most Democrats out there are strongly disagree with the quotas (limits) that The United States set different limits for immigrants coming from different regions of the world. But so many Republicans agree with the quotas, which I think it’s ridiculous.
Here’s why…
Problem
Quotas (limits) on the number of people who come to U.S. based on different regions in the world. This is not fair for all immigrants:
For example: Every year, there are about 10,000 people from China, 4,000 people from Dominican Republic, 40, 000 people from European countries.
From the data that has just reviewed, immigrants from European countries are 4 TIMES more than the people from China AND 10 TIMES more than the people from Dominican Republic.
Obviously, this is a racism problem. The U.S. government should not set different limited number(s) of people because of their race(s). It is unnecessary and unacceptable to have such different limited number for immigrants from different countries. If any of you think this quota is reasonable, can u at least give a reason of why?
Solution
The U.S. government should set the same limited number of people for each different country to come to the U.S. or without setting any limits.
Conclusion
Everyone should be treated the same, whether their race(s) is different or same as others. Because United States of America is a land of freedom, where all men are equal.
We, Representatives Sue Myrick from North Carolina, Thelma Drake from Virginia, and Janice Schakowsky from Illinois, believe that there should be quotas for people immigrating to the U.S. because our population is becoming excessively huge. We are afraid that because of such a large population, not everyone will be able to live a stable life with a good home and job. Many people come to the U.S. in search of jobs, a home, and better economics. Many people come to the U.S. temporarily to earn sufficient money to go home or they just stay in the U.S. and more people just barge in to the U.S.
This is the problem; if more people immigrate into the U.S. it can cause pollution, insufficient jobs or homes, and the places will be overcrowded. Coming to the U.S. is everybody’s dream, but if it because pollution it will not be a good picture of the dream. Pollution is a really serious problem. Human population growth is at the root of virtually all of the world’s environmental problems. That means that if the population people increases, crowding generates pollution, destroys more habitats, and uses up additional natural resources.
But there is a way to solve this problem. The solution to this problem is that we should set a limit of how many inhabitants coming to the U.S. from each state/country around the world. This is like the only solution if all of you don’t set quotas, our population will be out of control and we will not have enough space for everyone to have a home and a job. (Not everyone will be able to live a stable life).
Bill written by Christopher Shays
Border Security:
The United States should build a fence or wall along the border of Mexico.
This is Christopher Shays and I agree that with the border wall. I agree with this issue because there are too many people coming to the United States. Since there are so many immigrants in the U.S, the population is getting too high and illegal immigrants are stealing Americans job. If this keeps on happening the America will be full of illegal immigrants.
If immigrants keep on coming then they will think it is so easy to come and they will spread the words. The issue is that if people keep on crossing the border then we’ll need to build a bigger border. The bigger the border is, the harder it is to cross the border. It is also important because if you don’t build a fence then you won’t know if they have weapons on them or not. It can also be dangerous if they don’t have a border line because then all kind of people can come in and they can do all sorts of things to people.
I would propose a bill that increases border security. I would make the border at the height that immigrants can’t get through.
